# IPCC report

 

 

  • Glaciers in the Hindu kush himalayan (HKH) region will keep shrinking and the snow cover will retreat to higher altitudes, the latest IPCC report said on Monday.
  • The sixth Assessment report (AR6) of the inter-governmental panel on climate change (IPCC) was approved by 195 member countries.
  • The report warned that extreme precipitation is projected to increase in major mountaineous regions with potential cascading consequences of floods, landslides and lake outbursts in all scenarios.

 

 

 

# Lok sabha

 

 

  • The loksabha on monday passed three bills.
  • The three bills passed are the limited liability partnership (amendment) bill, 2021, The insurance and credit guarantee corporation (amendment) bill, 2021 and the constitution (Scheduled tribes) order (amendment) bill 2021.
  • Opposition parties has agreed to let the parliament function to pass the OBC reservation bill.

 

 

 

# Edible oil production

 

 

  • The centre will spend 11000 crore rupees on a new mission to ensure self sufficiency in edible oil production.
  • This financial outlay for the National mission on edible oil-oil palm (NMEO-OP) will be over a five year period.
  • Prime minister also released the ninth installment of income support worth 19,500 crore rupees to 9.75 crore farmers under the PM kisan scheme.

 

 

 

# Economic activity

 

 

  • India’s economic activity reached its highest level in first week of August, since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
  • The Nomura India business resumption index (NI-BRI) rose to a record high of 99.4.
  • Pre pandemic level of this index was 100.
