# Vaccination

 

 

  • Vaccination of children against covid-19 may start as early as August.
  • Both Bharat biotech’s Covaxin and Zydus cadilla’s DNA vaccines for the 12-18 age group were being looked into.
  • NITI aayog member also informed that 15 crore vaccine doses will be available for vaccination in August.

 

 

 

# CAA rules

 

 

  • The committees on subordinate legislation, lok sabha and Rajya sabha, has been requested to grant further extension of time upto january 9, 2002 to frame the rules under the CItizenship amendment act.
  • The citizenship amendment act was notified on December 12, 2019.
  • This act came into force on January 10, 2020.

 

 

 

# Tourism sector

 

 

  • Tourism industry is among the hardest hit due to the pandemic.
  • It is estimated that about 21.5 million people working in the sector lost their jobs during the nine month period from April 2020 – December 2020.
  • The study has been done by the National council of applied economic research for the ministry of tourism.

 

 

 

# World heritage site

 

 

  • The harappan city of Dholavira, in present day Gujarat, was on tuesday named the 40th Indian site on UNESCO’s world heritage list.
  • UNESCO’s announcement came just days after another site, Ramappa temple in Telangana, was admitted to the list on sunday.
  • The ancient city of Dholavira is one of the most remarkable and well preserved urban settlements in south asia dating from the 3rd to mid 2nd millenium BCE.

 

 

 

# Cotton prices

 

 

  • With cotton prices rising, the textile industry has sought removal of 10% import duty on the produce.
  • Southern India mills association (SIMA) chairman ashwin Chandran said in a press release that the increase of 3800 rupees a candy of cotton over the past 15 days.
