# Delimitation in J&K

 

 

  • The jammu and kashmir delimitation commission will take into account the topography ,difficult terrain ,means of communication and convenience available while delimiting seven additional seats for the 83 member assembly of the UT.
  • This process will also grant reservation to the scheduled tribe (ST) and scheduled caste (SC) communities.
  • The chief of the panel said that delimitation is not a mathematical exercise . It must reflect the political aspirations of society bound in a particular geography.

 

 

# cooperation ministry

 

  • Opposition has flagged the creation of new “cooperation ministry” under home minister Amit shah.
  •  The government said the ministry will provide a separate administrative ,legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
  • It is aimed at streamlining the process for ease of doing business and enable development of multi state co-operative banks.
  • Opposition leaders, however, said the move was to “hijack the cooperative movement” that currently falls under the state governments or state list.

# Himalayan yaks

  • The high altitude yaks, feeling the climate change heat across the Himalayan belt, will now be insured.
  • The  National research centre on Yak (NRCY) at Dirang in west Kameng district, Arunachal pradesh, has tied up with the national insurance company limited for insuring their livestock.
  • The country wide population trend shows that yak population has been decreasing at an alarming rate.

 

 

 

# Covaxin

 

 

  • The WHO is likely to take a decision on including Bharat biotech’s covaxin in its list of vaccines approved for emergency use authorisation (EUA) within four to six weeks.
  • A WHO pre-qualification, or  EUA  is necessary for a vaccine company to supply vaccines to global facilities such as COVAX or international procurement.
