Himanta Biswa Sharma, the face of the BJP in north-east India, will be sworn in on monday as the 15th CM of Assam.
Himanta Biswa Sharma, and the outgoing CM Sarbananda Sonowal, met governor Jagdish Mukhi on sunday afternoon and put forward the BJP’s claim to form the government.
Both leaders had made their way into the politics from the all assam student’s union.
# Delhi covid cases
The capital on sunday recorded 13,336 new covid-19 cases the lowest figure since April 12.
The health bulletin issued by the Delhi government showed that 61,552 tests have been conducted over a 24 hour period with a positivity rate of 21.63%.
The Delhi government said the capital had received 499 metric tonnes of oxygen on saturday against its daily demand of 700 metric tonnes of oxygen.
# Great nicobar plan
The environment appraisal committee (EAC) of ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MOEFCC) has flagged serious concerns about NITI aayog’s ambitious project for great nicobar island.
The proposal includes an international container transshipment terminal, a greenfield international airport, a power plant and a township complex spread over 166 square kilometre.
The committee has also asked for details of the corporate environment policy of the implementing agency.
# China rocket debris falls
Debris from the last stage of China’s long march rocket fell into the waters of the Indian ocean west of the maldives on sunday.
The reentry of the rocket, described by astro-physicists as the fourth largest uncontrolled reentry in history.
This rocket was a part of key component of China’s under construction space station.
# Scotland
British PM Boris johnson on sunday invited the leaders of the UK’s devolved nations for crisis talks on the union after Scotland’s pro-independence party won its fourth straight parliamentary elections.
