#   Lokniti-CSDS survey

 

 

  • The local was of utmost importance in the decision making of voters in the assembly elections.
  • Each of the surveyed states had specific local variables that swayed and determined the choices of the respondents.
  • In all four states, the opposition to the CAA was higher than support for it.

 

 

 

# Covaxin

 

 

  • Covaxin was jointly developed by the Bharat biotech and ICMR.
  • The intellectual property governing the use of covaxin will be shared and the ICMR would receive royalty payments.
  • The partnership between the two organisations involves 12 activities that include clinical and preclinical studies.
  • Five of these were funded entirely by Bharat biotech.

 

 

 

# GST on medical oxygen

 

 

  • Imports of covid-19 relief material, including vaccines, a conditional ‘adhoc’ GST exemption till june 30.
  • These items are already exempt from customs duty and health cess, now integrated GST (IGST),  levied on such imports.

 

 

 

# Serum institute of India

 

 

  • Ahead of the UK-India bilateral summit, PM Boris johnson has announced 1 billion euro investment deals by Indian companies that will create 6500 jobs in the UK.
  • The biggest in the investment deals is by the SII amounting to 240 million euros.
  • The investment by the SII is aimed at the firm’s vaccine business in the UK and a new sales office.

 

 

 

# Purchasing manager’s index

 

 

  • India’s manufacturing sector activity was largely flat in April, as rates of growth for new orders and output eased to eight months lows amid covid-19.
  • The seasonally adjusted IHS Markit india manufacturing purchasing manager’s index (PMI) was at 55.5 in April, little changed from march’s reading of 55.4.
