# Covid situation

• The centre invoked the disaster management act on thursday, making the DMs and SSPs liable to ensure unhindered inter state movement of vehicles carrying medical oxygen.

• Amid shortage of medical oxygen, the Indian railways on thursday said two “oxygen express” trains with liquid medical oxygen tankers will begin their jouney for Maharashtra and UP on thursday night.

• With 3,32,348 new covid-19 cases on thursday, India reported more than three lakh new infections for the second consecutive day.

• Over 16.51 lakh tests were conducted on wednesday, the highest ever number of tests conducted in a single day.

# Indonesian submarine

• The Indian navy on thursday despatched its deep submergence rescue vessel (DSRV) from Visakhapatanam to support the Indonesian navy in the search and rescue efforts for its submarine KRI Nanggala.

• India is amongst the few countries in the world capable of undertaking search and rescue of a disabled submarine through a DSRV, the navy said.

• Indian navy’s DSRV system can locate a submarine upto 1000 metre depth utilising its state of the art side scan sonar and remotely operated vehicle.

# Global climate summit

• US president Joe Biden announced that the US would cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% by 2030 relative to 2005 levels.

• Mr. Biden also announced that the US would double by 2024, its annual financing commitments to developing countries, including a tripling of its adaptation finance by 2024.

• China’s president XI xinping reiterated his country’s pledge to peak carbon neutrality before 2030.

• PM Modi announced that the India and US were launching an energy and climate partnership during US president Joe Biden’s leaders summit on climate.

# Australia-China tensions

• Australia said on thursday that it cancelled two accords between Victoria state and China on the BRI.

• Australia cancelled the accord on the ground of national interest.
