# Covid situation

 

 

  • India’s covid-19 cases tally crossed the 1.5 crore mark on sunday.
  • The country registered 2,75,196 new covid cases on sunday.
  • Maharashtra reported maximum cases of 68,631 followed by UP (30566) and Delhi (25462).
  • Maharashtra also recorded the maximum casualties of 503, on sunday. Chattisgarh followed with 170 new deaths, while Delhi registered 161 new casualties.
  • Ramesh pokhriyal Nishank announced that April JEE (main) has been postponed.

 

 

 

# Railways

 

 

  • Two years ago 61 persons participating in the Dussehra celebrations near Amritsar were killed in an accident.
  • Railways have decided to map local festivals celebrated along the railway tracks across the country and issue an advisory to loco pilots on speed restrictions and other safety aspects.

 

 

 

# Meghalaya

 

 

  • Meghalaya has yielded India’s first bamboo dwelling bat with sticky discs.
  • It has took the species count of the flying mammals in the country to 130.
  • The disc footed bat (Evdiscopus denticulus) was recorded in the northeastern state’s lailad area near the Nongkhyllem wildlife sanctuary, about 1000 KM west of its nearest known habitat in myanmar.

 

 

 

# Covid management

 

 

  • Central government has sanctioned 162 oxygen plants across different states.
  • Railways will run ” oxygen express” trains over the next few days to transport liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders across the country.
  • The centre has banned the supply of oxygen for industrial purposes from April 22.
  • However, supply for industries that make ampoulses and vials, pharmaceuticals, refineries and steel plants etc. has been exempted.

 

 

 

# Tehreek-e-labaaik

 

 

  • Atleast seven pakistan police officers and seven rangers were taken hostage on sunday by supporters of radical islamist party.
  • Rioting has rocked the country since monday, when the leader of the now banned Tehreek-e-labaaik pakistan (TLP) was detained in lahore after calling for the expulsion of the French ambassador.
