# Chief justice of India

 

 

  • President Ramnath kovind on tuesday appointed Justice NV Ramanna as the 48th CJI with effect from april 24.
  • He was born into a family of agriculturists in Krishna districts of Andhra pradesh.
  • Upcoming CJI has done a number of jobs before working as a judge.
  • He was a student leader working for farmers and industrial  workers and also worked as a journalist for a leading Telugu newspaper.

 

 

 

# Health ministry

 

 

  • There is a growing demand to allow vaccination to all adults.
  • Health ministry has clarified that it is not possible to ramp up vaccination so quickly and abruptly.
  • The current system of vaccination protocol is based on scientific protocol advised by WHO.

 

 

 

# Forest fires in uttarakhand

 

 

  • Uttarakhand has about 70% of forest cover .
  • It is witnessing an unprecedented rise in number of cases of forest fire this year.
  • Till 6 April 2021, it has experienced 414 incidents of forest fires affecting 645.3 hectares this season.
  • High fuel load and consistent dry weather are responsible for increase in forest fire.

  • Special envoy of US president Joe biden on climate change “john kerry” is on a 4 day visit to India.
  • John kerry said that India is a “red hot” investment opportunity because of its clean energy shift.
  • John kerry will meet environment minister Prakash javdekar and external affairs minister S. Jaishankar and is expected to meet PM Modi and petroleum minister Dharmendra pradhan.

 

 

 

# Ukraine-Russia conflict

 

 

  • Ukranian President volodymyr Zelensky on tuesday urged NATO to speed up his country’s membership in the alliance.
  • Mr Zelensky spoke with NATO  secretary general John stolten berg after an increase in clashes and Russian military movement on the border.
  • There is a fear of major escalation of conflict in eastern Ukraine in mainly Russian speaking Donbas region since 2014.

 

 

 

# International monetary fund

 

 

  • After a contraction of 8% in GDP last financial year.
