# Small savings

 

 

  • The government has reversed the decision to cut the interest rates on small savings such as PPFs etc.
  • The decision would have squeezed the middle class income  further as retail inflation is already high.
  • The decision to decrease interest had took the interest rate on small savings to a decadal low.

 

 

 

# Imports from India

 

 

  • Pakistan has withdrawn an order allowing import of sugar and cotton from India.
  • The u-turn has been seen as an embarassment to the Imran khan government.
  • Imran khan holds the portfolio of commerce minister which had moved the proposal to allow import.

 

 

 

# Dadasaheb phalke award

  • The centre on thursday announced the prestigious dadasaheb phalke award for rajnikant for his contribution as an actor, producer and screenwriter.
  • This has been announced by I&B minister prakash javdekar.
  • Dadasaheb phalke award, instituted in 1969, the award is the highest honour for an artiste in Indian cinema.

 

 

 

# GST

 

 

  • The gross GST collection in march hit a record of 1,23,902 crore, the union finance ministry said on thursday.
  • This is the sixth month in a row that GST revenues have remained above 1 lakh crore.
  • GST collections is also marking a steep recovery of economy.

 

 

 

# Joint logistics hub

  • chief of defence staff general Bipin rawat on thursday operationalised  the third joint logistics nodal (JLN) in Mumbai.
  • This JLN will help in integrating the three services, army, navy and airforce and also optimize resources.
