# Andhra pradesh panchayat polls

 

 

 

  • The supreme court on monday dismissed a plea by YS Jagan mohan reddy government against the Andhra pradesh state election commission’s decision to conduct panchayat polls.
  • The court said the state government’s reluctance to conduct the elections and wording of its appeal suggested an ego battle between the government and the SEC.
  • The supreme court also said that many elections have been conducted in this pandemic situation.

  • Legendary singer SP Balasubramaniyam, who died last year, will get the padma vibhushan, the second highest civilian award in the country.

  • The outcome of the fifth round of seroprevalence survey has indicated that Delhi’s population could be heading towards herd immunity against covid-19.
  • The survey has found that in one district, 50-60% of the sample population have developed herd immunity.
  • Herd immunity is a condition were 50-60% of a population has developed antibody of a virus.
