# Free vaccination

 

 

  • Free covid-19 vaccination will be provided to three crore healthcare and frontline workers in the first phase of vaccination – said health minister Harsh vardhan.
  • Nation wide vaccination dry run was conducted in 286 session sites spread across 125 districts on saturday.

 

 

 

# “Covaxin”

 

 

  • Also, India’s first indigenously developed covid-19 vaccine, “covaxin” was recommended for restricted use in emergency situation, subject to multiple regulatory conditionalities.
  • This recommendation was given by the subject expert committee of the central drugs standard control organisation.
  • India has successfully isolated and cultured the new coronavirus strain, which was first reported in the UK.

 

 

 

# FATF meet

 

 

  • Lashkar-e-taiba operations commander zaki-ur-rehman-lakhwi was arrested in pakistan by its counter terrorism department on charges of using terror funds.
  • The timing of arrest is significant as it comes ahead of meeting of the global watchdog “FATF” and its asia pacific joint group in the next few weeks.
  • This FATF meeting will consider Pakistan’s greylist status, meant for countries under increased monitoring.

 

 

 

# AI based CCTVs

 

 

  • Gurugram metropolitan development authority (GMDA) mooted a project for a closed circuit television camera based surveillance and adaptive traffic management system for the millenium city.
  • It’s first phase is expected to be completed by march this year with the installation of around 1200 CCTV cameras.
  • It will have AI and features such as traffic signal violation detection, over speeding detection, face recognition and reading of number plates at 200 odd places.

 

 

 

# Assam’s only ramsar sites

 

 

  • The Kamrup (metropolitan) district administration has prohibited community fishing in Deepor Beel.
  • This is a wetland on the south western edge of guwahati and assam’s only ramsar site.
  • According to hydrological experts, the area of the wetland was about 6000 hectares in the late 1980s.
  • Satellite imagery has revealed that its area has shrunk by atleast 35% since 1991.
