# Driverless train

 

 

  • PM Modi flagged off India’s first driverless train.
  • This country’s first driverless train will run on the Delhi metro’s magenta line.
  • PM Modi also said that by 2025, metro will be functional in 25 cities from current 7.
  • The national common mobility card was also introduced for use on the airport express line.

 

 

# Cow slaughter ban

 

 

  • The Karnataka cabinet on monday decided to promulgate an ordinance for implementing the anti-cow slaughter bill.
  • According to bill, slaughter houses would continue to operate and beef consumption would not be prohibited.
  • The minister said, this law is only an extension of the old law enacted in 1964.
  • While the old law imposed a ban on slaughter of cows untill the age of 13, the new law would totally ban the slaughter of cows.

 

 

# 100th kisan rail

 

 

  • PM Modi flagged off 100th kisan rail service from Sangola in Solapur district of Maharashtra  to Shalimar in West Bengal.
  • Mr. Modi said the service would transform the economics of Indian agriculture while strengthening the country’s cold supply chain.

 

 

# Onion exports

 

 

  • The centre has lifted the ban on exports of all varities of onions with effect from Jan 1.
  • The Directorate general of foreign trade issued a notification lifting the the prohibition on monday.
  • Onion farmers and traders have been demanding the lifting of the ban, as fresh arrivals from the kharif crop flood the market, pushing prices lower.

 

 

# No state run madarsas

 

 

  • The Assam government on monday introduced a bill in the 126 member assembly to convert the state run madarsas into general educational institutions from the next fiscal.
  • The Assam repealing bill,2020 seeks to repeal the Assam madarsa education (provincialisation) act, 1955.
  • Assam has more than 600 state run madarsas.

 

 

# Rohingya refugees

  • Bangladesh on monday started moving a second group of rohingya refugees to a controversial flood prone island in the Bay of Bengal despite opposition from rights activists.
  • More than 1600 of the muslim minority from Myanmar were taken to Bhasan Char earlier this month.
