# Farmer’s protest

• Today is the bharat bandh call by farmers between 11am – 3pm.

• 24 political parties have supported this bandh call.

• Five terrorists, two linked to khalistani separatism and three linked with kashmir based islamic terrorist organisations have been arrested by Delhi police.

# Central vista project

• The supreme court on monday allowed the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new parliament building to go ahead as scheduled on 10th december.

• This permission to go ahead with foundation stone laying ceremony was given after an undertaking given by the government that no fresh contruction, demolition and shifting of trees will be done.

• There are many petitions pending in the court regarding legality of construction, demolition and shifting of trees.

# J&K DDC polls

• J&K district development council polls registered a 50.08% voter turnout in the 4th phase of the maiden DDC elections on monday.

• Three districts in the volatile south kashmir saw single digit polling percentage. This pulled down the aggregate turnout in the kashmir valley to just 32%.

• The pulwama segment saw a low turnout. It is the same area from where PDP leader waheed ur rehman is contesting. He has been arrested by NIA to investigate for his alleged links with terrorist organisations.

# Bharat biotech’s covaxin

• Bharat biotech international limited on monday sought emergency use authorisation from drug controller general of India for it’s covid 19 vaccine namely covaxin.

• Bharat biotech is the 3rd company after Pfizer and SII  to apply for emergency use authorisation.

• The covaxin has been developed by with the help of ICMR, and is undergoing phase 3 trials at over 25 centres across India.

# World’s arms market

• US and chinese companies dominated the arms market in 2019.

• This data is released from a report by the SIPRI research institute on monday.

• The US arms industry accounted for 61% of sales by the world’s top 25 manufacturers last year.

• China accounted for 15.7% of world’s arms sell according to stockholm International peace research institute (SIPRI)

# GST returns

• Starting january 2021, 92% of taxpayers under GST regime with an annual turnover of upto 5 crore rupees can opt to file their returns once a quarter instead of the present monthly system.

• As many as 94 lakh registered GST taxpayers can opt for the new quarterly filing of returns with monthly payment (QRMP).
